Mermaid Look!

Who wants to be a MERMAID for halloween?! There are so many exciting things about this post for me!

1. I just love Halloween makeup, you get to throw all the “rules” out the window and let your creativity take you where it will. Can you tell I had fun?!

2. I got a NEW phone, first time in like….12 years. The camera on this thing is BONKERS!! I can FINALLY get good close up pics!

3. There are some FUN colors in this look that I don’t get to wear often, so getting to play with them was awesome!! This look is 99% LipSense and ShadowSense, The only other product I’m wearing is MakeSense Foundation in Almond, and some cheap lashes.

Ok without further ado, on to all the fabulous colors in this look! I’ll start with the eyes…

This ShadowSense trio is mermaid perfection! Such gorgeous colors.  I started with turquoise as a transition and put it on my inner and outer corner and blended into and up above the crease. Then I blended Seafoam Shimmer onto the center of my lid for that lovely highlight. Lapis Glitter is the dark blue contour on the outer corner and blended into the crease. Next I mixed Seafoam with some Silver shimmer and blended it up almost to my brows, then highlighted under the brow bone with just the silver alone. It created a pretty ombre look!  I mixed Palm Glitter with Silver Shimmer for the color under my lower lashes. For a finishing touch I put some Silver Shimmer right next to my tear ducts. Then I lined the whole look with onyx like I normally do.

My scaly contour was created using the netting my oranges were packed in, you can use fishnet stockings as well. I used a flat face brush to apply and gently overlap the ShadowSense colors, from the bottom up: Denim (pictured below) Palm Glitter, Seafoam Shimmer, Silver Shimmer.

I used the same blend and overlap method for the forehead scales. ShadowSense colors used, from the bottom up: Violet (from the rainbow collection!) Denim, Seafoam Shimmer, Silver Shimmer. I added a light layer of Silver Shimmer to all the scales.

Blush and highlight:  Yep, more ShadowSense. Violet for blush, Glacier Glitter for highlight.

On to lips! I lined my lips with T.E.A.M. Wicked LipSense, bringing the liner in a bit at the corners. I also did one layer of this color all over. I used two layers of Candy Apple Green LipSense to fill in, slightly overlapping the liner. I wanted a bit more depth so I mixed Midnight Muse and Cappuccino and added it to the center, but It didn’t really come through in the pics, I think it would have been fine without it.

Then I added some Opal Gloss and WOW what a dramatic effect!

This look was so much fun and I can’t wait to do some more Halloween looks for you! SeneGence is so great for facepaint/halloween makeup because it never smears or smudges and never feels heavy or itchy! It’s even great for kids! I’ll show you some fun looks on my kiddos. Get ready!!

It’s Officially Fall!

I may be a bit of a Summer girl, but fall makeup is my FAVORITE, because what’s the best thing about fall? Those COLORS! I had so much fun playing with these colors, so let’s kick off this amazing season with some gorgeous looks! I’ll start with some fall vibes!

This is the “fall vibes” ShadowSense trio:

  • Transition- Copper Rose Shimmer. Apply color over inner two thirds of lid and blend into and above crease.
  • Highlight- Sandstone pearl shimmer. Apply just onto center of lid and blend slightly toward inner corner, close to the lashline.
  • Contour – Garnet. Apply to outer V (outer third of lid and crease) and blend slightly above crease.
  •  Gold EyeSense pencil liner (optional) really makes it POP!
  • Lips are 1 layer Glam Doll and 2 layers nutmeg. Holy wow. I’ll be wearing this combo A LOT.

Let’s kick it up a notch and do a Fall Smokey eye!

I love that this look is so gorgeous without being complicated or using 8 colors. Just a simple trio:

  • Transition – Pink Posey. Apply all over lid and blend above crease, Also apply under lower lash line and blend slightly.
  • Highlight – Copper Rose Shimmer. Place color in center of lid and blend toward inner corner.
  • Contour – Onyx. place on outer V and blend into and above crease
  • Brow highlight – Sandstone Pearl Shimmer (optional)
  • Lip Color – 1 layer precious topaz and 2 layers Rose all Day LipSense, with Glossy Gloss.

That Lip color though…

I love that you can create so many beautiful new shades of LipSense by mixing and layering just a few colors! I do this on an almost daily basis, with so many fun new possibilities, why use just one color?! This creation was especially stunning, so I gave it a name. Say hello to Spiced Apple! Fall perfection! I Used one layer of Crimson and 2 layers of Mirage, both of these colors are limited edition, but if they are unavailable there are enough similar colors that you could still recreate this gorgeous color. Try Fly Girl and Precious Topaz or Blu-Red and Dawn Rising. If layering doesn’t look quite right, you can mix and then apply!

There are more Fall looks coming, and Halloween looks too! Stay tuned!

Pirate Look!

International Talk Like a Pirate day is here ye salty wenches! It’s always on September 19th  and it will always have a special place in my heart because it also happens to be my husband’s birthday! So every year we fly the Jolly Roger, Don our best pirate garb and get up to some outrageous shenanigans! I’ve spent the last few years perfecting my pirate makeup, and of course discovering SeneGence was an absolute game changer.  Before I dive into this awesome look, I want to emphasize that there are SO many ways to do a killer pirate look, I’ll give you some more ideas at the end of this post!

Let’s start with the eyes shall we? AYE!!

For the dark red color, I mixed Bandana Shimmer and Onyx ShadowSense with Cherry BlushSense. (the new Red ShadowSense I think would work fine in place of the Cherry blush) I put that mix all over my lid and blended it up above the crease, and also put some under my lower lashline, on the outer two-thirds of my eye. Then I added a bit more Onyx to my outer V to give it more of a smokey look. Then yet more Onyx for liner. I Used Rustic Brown ShadowSense for my brows, and Sandstone Pearl Shimmer just underneath for some highlight.

Those lips though….

In years past I have done a bright red or wine colored lip, but LipSense is just perfect for an ombre because you can wear it all day without the colors blending together and ruining the effect. I mixed Crimson and Blackberry and applied it like a thick liner. Then I filled in the rest with Crimson, overlapping the liner slightly to create a smooth transition.

The rest of my Face is Advanced anti-aging MakeSense Foundation in Almond, with some pearlizer on my cheeks and nose for highlight.

So many options!

There are so many ways you can change this up and make it your own. You could do a basic smokey eye and red lip, or go dark with your lip color. A black and sparkly gold eye look would look amazing as well!  Even just some heavy smudged eyeliner would do the trick if you’re in a hurry (Onyx ShadowSense is perfect for this!)  You can also save time just doing makeup on one eye, and put a patch on the other! Just make sure you’re using SeneGence so your look lasts through all the pirate festivities! Farewell mateys! Share your pirate shenanigans in the comments!

10 Things Nobody Told You about SeneGence

  1. They make soooo much more than LipSense!

It’s true that LipSense was the premier product of SeneGence, but they have expanded into making all kinds of high quality cosmetics, everything from eyeshadow to concealer! All of it is designed to be long lasting and smudge-proof! PLUS they make top quality skin care, but more on that later!

2. SeneGence has been around for 20 YEARS!

That’s right, SeneGence was founded in 1999, by Joni Rogers. She wanted to create quality products that work and a career that works for women!

3. What’s in the name SeneGence?

There are three words that are combined to make “SeneGence” The first word is senescence, the name for the process of deterioration due to aging. The second word is intelligence, last is synergy. Synergy is multiple things working together for the creation of a whole greater than the sum of its parts.

4. Two words: Skin. Care.

Most people have no idea there is more makeup from SeneGence than just their famous lip color, let alone skin care, but it’s true! This company makes top notch skin care that is high quality, patented, and still affordable! Their patented formula called SenePlex Complex has been tested in an independent lab and proven to increase the rate of cell turnover by 23%. That’s right, plump gorgeous new skin cells, brought to the surface 23% faster. It also increases collagen synthesis and elastin while reducing sagging, fine lines and wrinkles. There is a basic maintenance line (includes a cleanser, and two moisturizers, one daytime and one evening) for four skin types. They also make eye cream, a stabilized vitamin C serum, and climate control, the most effective hydrator I’ve ever seen. Plus solutions like wrinkle cream, dark circle treatment, a brand new firming neck cream, and MUCH MORE.

5.There’s skin care in the MAKEUP TOO!

Remember that stuff I just talked about, SenePlex Complex? SeneGence puts that stuff in almost every cosmetic product they make. MakeSense foundation, tinted moisturizer, blush, concealer, eyeshadow, ALL OF IT will help your skin stay healthy!!

6. You can mix EVERYTHING

All SeneGence cosmetics (except one) are a cream or liquid formula, and they are designed to be mixed and blended together to create custom shades that work for you. Mix ShadowSense colors together, or even with BlushSense to get the perfect color. Mix concealer with your foundation to adjust the shade. Mix pearlizer with LipSense to create new and fun blush colors! And of course you can mix LipSense shades together to make new colors, as well as layering!

7. SeneGence has a RIDICULOUS return policy

100%, bottom of the bottle, satisfaction guarantee, within a YEAR of purchase. Yes, you read that right. Your new LipSense pulled a weird color or looks different than the picture online? Exchange it, for FREE.  Not a fan of the way your moisturizer smells? Return it. Used the ENTIRE bottle of dark circle treatment, but didn’t get the results you wanted? Return it. I doubt you’ll find that kind of a return policy, uh…anywhere.

8. They have a non profit foundation!

The Make Sense Foundation is a non-profit organization created in 2002
by Joni Rogers-Kante, founder and CEO of SeneGence International. The foundation thrives on donating to deserving non-profit organizations throughout the country that are also committed to making a real difference in the lives of women and children.

The foundation donates to agencies that:

  • Fight hunger and poverty
  • Support victims of domestic violence and abuse
  • Serve the homeless
  • Provide training and educational opportunities
  • Invest in at-risk youth
  • Promote health, wellness, and healing
  • Rescue victims of sex trafficking
  • Help victims of natural disasters

9. All SeneGence products are vegan, with no animal testing!
